The Juneau-Douglas volleyball season came to an end Friday in the consolation round of the state tournament after the Crimson Bears went down in five games to Soldotna at West Anchorage High School.
The Stars advanced to the fourth-place game of the ASAA/First National Bank Alaska Volleyball State Championships with a 25-19, 22-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-5 win over the Bears.
Junior middle hitter Sarah Tarver led the way with 20 kills, while junior outside hitter Daffodil Alinson added 13, senior outside hitter Krista Barril had seven and junior middle hitter Taylor Larson had 6.
Kalea Chapman led the defensive effort with 28 digs.
The Bears finished with a 17-4 overall match record.
