SOLDOTNA - Chevron says it is reducing its Alaska operations work force.
The move comes because of decreased activity and difficult economic conditions with Chevron's oil assets in Cook Inlet.
Chevron spokeswoman Roxanne Sinz said it is estimated that about 25 jobs in operations and maintenance will be affected. She says employees will be notified on Nov. 16 and the reduction will be completed by the end of the year.
Chevron has about 200 field-based employees. The reduction will affect about 10 to 12 percent of those employees.
Sinz says the reduction in personnel is the first since Chevron took over the assets of Unocal in Cook Inlet.
