Nov. 4

Ordway Basketball Scorekeepers Meeting - All interested scorekeepers for the 2009-2010 season must attend this meeting at 5 p.m. in the City Hall conference room. Call 586-5226 for more information.

Nov. 5

Juneau Parks & Rec Adult Basketball Managers Meeting - One representative must be present at 5:15 p.m. at the Assembly Chambers in order to receive a win, which will count toward final standings. Schedules will be redistributed at this time. Call 586-5226 for more information.

Nov. 13

Learn to skate with the Juneau Skating Club - Classes meet one time per week for six weeks beginning Nov. 13. Group lessons meet either Fridays, 6:30-7:30 p.m., or Saturdays from 11:45-12:45 p.m. Hockey skills classes start Sunday, Nov. 15 at 10:30 a.m. Register and get more information online at www.juneauskatingclub.org. • Hooptime Basketball registration is ongoing for players in grades 4-8. The season begins Jan. 4, and registration is on a first-come-first-served basis. The deadline is Dec. 12, and late registrations will not be accepted this year. Forms can be found at www.hoop-time.org. Mail the forms to P.O. Box 33606, Juneau, AK 99803. Registration also will be held on Nov. 7 and 21 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Nugget Mall. Call Shlley Saviers at 790-2566 for more information.

• Juneau Parks & Rec is looking for basketball scorekeepers for the 2009-10 Ordway Basketball Season, which is scheduled to begin Nov. 8 and runs through the first week of February. The position is paid. Call 586-5226 if interested, or for moreinformation.

• Juneau Douglas Ice Association's youth hockey registration is currently ongoing. If you have not registered your child for this year's session, please go to usahockey/juneaudouglasice.com to register online. Practices start next week, so don't delay. • Taproot Yoga Center instructor Christin Gelinas is inviting everyone to join her yoga practices in the valley this fall. Students receive a discounted $10 drop-in rate for all classes with a valid student ID. Classes are Saturdays, 9-10:30 a.m. for hatha yoga, level one, and Thursdays, 12:30-1:30 p.m., all levels. • Women's Classic Basketball League - Women who enjoy basketball and want to play for fun, on an organized team, but with women who are a "little older," or new to the game, or have less time due to kids, jobs or other commitments. Aggressive play is strongly discouraged in the Classic league. Pre-season practices will begin in November, followed by games which will be played through Feb. 3. Teams play once a week on Wednesday for a total of 10 games for the season. The cost is $47.25 per player, which covers the costs of the player fee and a share of the team fee, plus use of a numbered jersey for each player. Players will register with Juneau Parks and Recreation, and then staff and volunteers will put teams together. Registration forms and information are available at the Juneau Parks and Recreation office, which is located in room 218 of the Municipal Building. Classic registration forms are due by Oct. 23.
