ATVs are unwelcome on Eaglecrest Road

Since the new mountain road to the top of Eaglecrest Ski Area has been completed, the area has become Juneau's all-year playground. ATV tours in the summer would destroy our quiet retreat and make it difficult for us to use the road.

I walk the new road often. It is very popular. All age groups come to enjoy the mountain's peaceful alpine beauty and to get healthy exercise, hike, picnic, swim and pick berries. Friends stroll and visit. Athletes use the road to keep in shape. Dogs leap by with their owners following. The road is a Mecca for Juneau's youth. They rush eagerly to the top.

Let's keep our new recreation treasure, the Eaglecrest mountain road, a quiet peaceful place. Please tell the Eaglecrest board that you oppose ATV tours.
