JUNEAU - Four people were injured Sunday evening in a two-vehicle accident on Egan Drive near Twin Lakes. Alcohol may have been a factor, police said.
Juneau police reported a 21-year-old man driving a 1991 Dodge Shadow was approaching the Vanderbilt intersection when a 2007 Nissan Sentra rear-ended the Dodge, causing the Dodge's trunk to compact and rendering the front doors inoperable. Capital City Fire and Rescue personnel extricated the driver and a 25-year-old woman from the Dodge.
The driver of the Nissan, a 36-year-old woman, told officers her car slid on the roadway, causing her to rear-end the Dodge. A 24-year-old woman was a passenger in the Nissan.
Both vehicles' occupants were taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital for evaluation. The extent of their injuries was unknown.
The accident closed two lanes of Egan Drive for about an hour.
