Ugashik man found dead outside village

UGASHIK - A 50-year-old Ugashik man was found dead a mile from the village and Alaska State Troopers said the cause appears to be exposure.

The body of Mark Wood was sent to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy.

Troopers in King Salmon received word Friday that a body had been found and they reached the Alaska Peninsula village on Saturday.

Witnesses told troopers Wood had been drinking alcohol Thursday night at a friend's house and left for home on a four-wheeler wearing only a T-shirt and blue jeans in rain and cold temperatures.

When he did not report for work Friday, a search was organized.

Ugashik is about 125 miles south of Dillingham.
