State Farm agents host meeting on insurance

JUNEAU - Local insurance agents Reuben Willis and Clif Beadle of State Farm will host an informational seminar on long-term care insurance at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, at the Baranof Hotel.

Appetizers and beverages will be served starting at 6:30 p.m.

According to the Health Insurance Association of America, more than 70 percent of Americans over age 65 will need some form of long-term care. Government data estimates the average cost of nursing home care at $56,000 a year. Yet, according to a Roper survey released in April 2003 by the American Society on Aging, only 17 percent of Americans have purchased insurance to cover long-term care expenses.

Presenter Gary Annis will discuss protecting financial assets by insulating against the high costs of long-term care, as well as consumer options to address those costs.
