Cleveland man drowns in Southeast Alaska

PORT ARMSTRONG - Sitka Dive Team divers recovered the body of a man whose canoe capsized in a gust of wind in Jetty Lake near Port Armstrong in southeast Alaska.

Alaska state troopers said 24-year-old Daniel Sweeney of Cleveland, Ohio, apparently drowned.

Another man in the canoe who was thrown into the water Friday was able to swim about 100 yards to shore.

The men had been fishing. Neither wore a floatation device.
