ANCHORAGE - A man Anchorage police believe may have been involved in a gang-related gunfight that left a 17-year-old girl dead in the crossfire has turned himself in to face unrelated charges.
Christopher Mejia had been sought on drug and weapons charges not directly linked to the death of Desirae Douglas.
Attorney Rex Butler accompanied the 20-year-old Mejia to the Anchorage jail Thursday night. Butler says police know his client had nothing to do with the shooting.
More than two dozen young people were at the party when the fight started.
