ANCHORAGE - The body of a Southwest Alaska village police officer who drowned in the Kuskokwim River was found Tuesday by searchers.
Alaska State Troopers said they had been looking for Ralph Lake since an accident Saturday. He and his wife were traveling from Bethel to Napaskiak when the motor quit and the boat sank. Janice Lake swam to shore but couldn't find her husband.
The Anchorage Daily News reported Lake, the 36-year-old Napaskiak officer, was known for his Yup'ik dancing and singing in his spare time.
