Six Glacier Swim Club athletes competed with Team Alaska in the Western Zone Championship meet in Waipahu, Hawaii, finishing seventh overall, with one state record set.

All Juneau swimmers set personal records with their times, and Ciera Kelly set an Alaska state record in the girls' 11-12 50-meter freestyle with a time of 27.87 seconds, which also stands as the 10th best girls' time in the U.S.

Kelly also placed sixth in the 100 backstroke, second in the 50 butterfly and third in the 50 back.

Tyler Mickelson was seventh in the 50 free, fourth in the 100 fly and fifth in the 100 free.

Mia Ruffin, 10, was fifth in both the 50 and 100 breaststroke.

Auri Clark took fifth in the 100 fly.

GSC began its 2009-2010 season Aug. 31, with the first competition taking place at the October Splash Invite, held Oct. 16-18 in Juneau.
