Man faces trial for attempted murder
KENAI - A Kasilof man charged with trying to kill his wife is due to stand trial.
Jury selection is scheduled for today in the trial of 45-year-old Harold Pence.
Pence is charged with attempted murder, five counts of assault and two counts of weapons misconduct.
He was arrested May 25.
Prosecutors say Pence after drinking alcohol made accusations of infidelity against his wife.
She told Alaska State Troopers that he pointed a rifle at her.
Troopers say she grabbed the rifle barrel and the gun went off, knocking her out of the door of the camper in which the couple lived.
Pence is also accused of menacing two people in a nearby motor home, breaking a window and firing a shot outside the vehicle.
