Mobile mammogram van on Prince of Wales Sept. 26 to Oct. 13

KLAWOCK - The mobile mammogram van will visit the Prince of Wales Island communities of Klawock and Craig from Sept. 26 to Oct. 13.

The van will be at the SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium Alicia Roberts Medical Center in Klawock from Sept. 26 to Oct. 9 (no weekend appointments scheduled). It will be at the Craig Clinic on Oct. 10 and 13.

Women wanting to schedule a mammogram should call ARMC in Klawock at 907-755-4800 or the Craig Clinic at 907-826-3257. Women should schedule their mammograms at the clinic where they normally receive their health care.

All women need to have a current clinical breast exam (done within the past six months) before they schedule their mammogram. Women living in outlying Prince of Wales Island communities can arrange to have their clinical breast exams done at their local health clinics before they schedule a mobile mammogram in Klawock or Craig.

Women with no insurance and/or a limited income may be eligible for a free clinical breast exam, mammogram, Pap test and heart health screening. To find out if you qualify, call Mary Dinon of ARMC at 907-755-4946.

The mobile mammography program is run through a partnership between Bartlett Regional Hospital and the SEARHC Breast and Cervical Health Program.
