ANCHORAGE - Police say an Anchorage officer's vehicle has struck and killed a 49-year-old pedestrian.
It happened early Saturday morning at a midtown intersection. Lt. Dave Parker said the road was dark and it was raining when the officer's vehicle struck the pedestrian around 1 a.m.
Christopher Joseph, of Anchorage, died at the scene.
Parker said the accident is under investigation. The officer, whose name was not released, was responding to a nearby 911 hang-up call when the accident occurred. He was not using his emergency lights or siren.
