Juneau Jambaars and Riptide also advance at Alaska State Cup

Her goal lifted the Xtratuffs to a 1-0 win over the Fairbanks Eclipse at the Alaska State Cup in Fairbanks.

With the win, the Xtratuffs (1-1-1) punched their ticket to the semifinal round, where they'll take on Cook Inlet today at noon.

Margaret Sekona and Amanda Soto fired shots on goal while Rachel Tarver, Kirsten Jorgensen, Kayla Walton, Jenna Rutecki and Elizabeth Tallmadge played solid defense to preserve the shutout.

Goalkeeper Kerri Williamson earned the clean sheet while Carly Lehnhart and Clarissa Suson provided good two-way play.

Lindsey Collins, Kirsten Pratt, Kendra Buerger and Lindsey Daniel also provided inspired play from the outside midfield position.

Joining the Xtratuffs in the semifinal round will be the Juneau Jambaars U-13 boys club.

The Jambaars routed Phoeniz 93 by a 10-1 score. Nine different players found the net for Juneau.

Ben Gelotte, Riley Paul, Rhett Bennett, Colin Gozelski, Ryan McCusker, Nathan Fosket, Cort Saviers, Max Smith and Peter Jorgenson all scored in the win.

Smith had two assists and Devin Bertholl added an assist in the win.

Taylor Lehnhart made two saves and Raphael Betit stopped a penalty kick in goal for the victorious Jambaars.

The Jambaars took 23 shots on goal and carried a 4-0 halftime lead.

Juneau (2-0-1) takes on the Reds Friday at 10 a.m. in the semifinal round.

The Juneau Riptide U-16 boys finished preliminary play undefeated Thursday by topping the Anchorage Goldstriker 90s by a 4-0 score.

Dominic Smith scored twice while Sam Greely and Isaac Stark scored one goal each for the Riptide (3-0).

Sam Post and Derick Stewart combined to make five saves while fullback Jesse West preserved the shutout by alertly clearing a shot off the line.

Tuavao Maake anchored another stellar team defensive performance for Juneau.

The Riptide battles the Fairbanks Flaming Lizards today.
