Loranna Petrovich
Former Juneau resident Loranna Mae Petrovich died May 14, 2008, in Wasilla. She was 83.
Born Oct. 18, 1924, in Aberdeen, Wash., to William Edward Stolp and Nellie Ballard, she was known to all as "Flicker Red." She grew up in Cosmopolis, Wash., and had a twin sister, Yvonne Minnie.
She moved to Alaska in 1943 and lived in Seward, Juneau and Wasilla. She dedicated her talents and time to the communities she lived in, her family said. She was a waitress, telephone operator and teen club manager.
According to her family, she was a lover of frogs and displayed many in her home and yard in Wasilla for others to enjoy. She also loved to garden and planted beautiful flowers every summer at her home on Williwaw Manor in Wasilla.
She is survived by her nephew, William Straughn.
There will be no service, but her ashes will be scattered in Resurrection Bay on or around Labor Day.
