Plane crash kills three near Cook Inlet

NIKISKI - A floatplane crashed, killing three people Saturday near Kustatan, a small community south of Tyonek, on the west side of Cook Inlet.

A report of the crash came just after 11 a.m. Everyone on board died, Alaska State Troopers said.

The pilot was identified as 60-year-old Thomas Iversen of Nikiski. The two passengers won't be identified by state troopers until the state medical examiner can confirm their identities, a trooper spokeswoman told the Anchorage Daily News Sunday.

The cause of the crash was not available.

"I don't know what the cause is. I've heard a couple different theories, but it's still under investigation," Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said.
