Anchorage Bucs bus vandalized

ANCHORAGE - The director of the Anchorage Bucs baseball club said the team bus was severely vandalized.

Gary Lichtenstein, director of baseball operations for the team, said the bus was set on fire and most of the windows had been cracked early Friday morning at the Sullivan Arena.

The team shares the bus with the Fairbanks Goldpanners during a grueling summer road schedule that takes college players to games along the railbelt, from the Kenai Peninsula to Fairbanks.

Lichtenstein said the team is scrambling to find alternative vehicles and is worried because the Taiwan National Team is due to arrive soon.

He said the team had recently installed a new engine costing $18,000.
