The Juneau-Douglas High School boys soccer team ended the regular season on a positive note with two wins over host Ketchikan.

The Crimson Bears (10-6-2) defeated the Kings 4-0 on Friday and 5-2 Saturday to seal a berth in the state tournament. It was the team's first win since April 28 against East Anchorage.

"I don't know if it was as bad as people made it," JDHS coach Gary Lehnhart said. "Sure the last result bothered them, but it's amazing how quickly they recovered."

On Friday, Matt Walton turned aside three shots as JDHS won the Southeast Conference.

Colin Flynn scored in the fourth minute off an Andrew Flansaas assist.

Jamaal Bailey followed in the 23rd minute by scoring Jesse West's pass.

Up 2-0 at the half, Dominic Smith took a pass from Bailey and beat the goalkeeper for Juneau's third goal.

Bailey ended the game's scoring by knocking in an assist from Eric Gullufsen.

JDHS outshot the Kings 14-6 in the win.

On Saturday, Kabil Seesan scored two goals to lead JDHS.

"I kind of spread it out," Lehnhart said of Saturday's win. "I played a lot of the younger guys and was excited by the result."

West had a goal and an assist, Gullufsen and Flansaas scored goals while Walton, Bailey and Zach Farrington added assists.

Connor Pihl scored both of Ketchikan's goals in defeat.

Eli Wray made one save to preserve Juneau's win.

Up next for JDHS will be the state tournament in Anchorage, which starts Wednesday.
