Wet April keeps fire danger low in Interior

FAIRBANKS - A wetter-than-usual April is keeping the fire danger in the Interior down.

Robert Schmoll, fire management officer for the Division of Forestry in Fairbanks, says so far the fire danger has stayed at a minimum. He says there was one fire two weeks ago out by Salcha, but that's been it.

April is normally the driest month of the year. But this April was one of the snowiest and wettest on record in Fairbanks.
