SEARHC announces Spring 2009 mobile mammograms
SITKA - The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium Women's Health Program has announced the Spring 2009 schedule for the mobile mammogram program.
The Bartlett Regional Hospital mobile mammography van will visit Angoon, Kake, Haines, Yakutat and Skagway this spring and early summer.
The van is scheduled to visit Angoon on Monday through Thursday, Kake from April 29 to May 2, Haines from May 7 to 19, Yakutat from May 27 to June 1, and Skagway from June 9 to 12.
The mobile mammography program is run through a partnership between Bartlett Regional Hospital and the SEARHC Women's Health Program. It makes regular mammography services available to women who live in communities where they aren't available year round.
"Each year, the mobile mammography unit provides mammograms for more than 700 women who might not otherwise receive this service," said Roz DeRensis, SEARHC Women's Health Care Manager. "Regular mammograms are an important part of being a healthy woman."
The SEARHC Women's Health Program provides free clinical breast exams, mammograms, Pap tests and cardiovascular screenings for all women ages 40-64 who meet income and insurance guidelines.
