Gov. Sarah Palin signs Silver Hand bill
JUNEAU - Gov. Sarah Palin has signed a bill ensuring that only works made by Alaska Natives who reside in Alaska can carry the Silver Hand seal.
The program, which is administered through the Alaska State Council on the Arts, was created to help promote Alaska Native art.
Senate Bill 97, sponsored by Kodiak Republican state Sen. Gary Stevens, excludes mass-produced items from using the seal.
