"The thing is, we haven't been able to practice outdoors," JDHS co-coach Colin Barton said. "Set pieces and things like, that we didn't do too well on them because we haven't been able to practice them.
"There were some positive things once we pass the ball around. We started playing with confidence, then we played very, very well indeed."
The two clean sheets put JDHS in the lead for the conference title and another trip to the state tournament.
The two teams will meet up in Juneau later this season for another two-game series. The Crimson Bears will need just a draw in either one of the games to win the state tournament berth.
"To be quite honest, the Ketchikan program has improved tremendously," Barton said. "They were at least a class better this year than last year. I told their coach it was very good to see they had so many kids. They put up a full team of JV and varsity against us, which is very good."
Juneau-Douglas' junior varsity also enjoyed pair of wins in Ketchikan.
The Crimson Bears' junior varsity defeated the Lady Kings 7-0 on Saturday and 3-2 on Friday.
Up next for JDHS (3-2, 2-0 Southeast) with be the fourth annual Spring Fever Invitational tournament at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park. The Bears will take on Colony High School and a squad from Colorado on Friday and Saturday.
