Interior picks up challengers for seats

FAIRBANKS - Lawmakers in Alaska's Interior will have some challengers come this fall.

Fairbanks state Reps. Mike Kelly, a Republican, Scott Kawasaki, a Democrat, and Jay Ramras, a Republican, and Beaver Democrat Woodie Salmon already face challenges to their seats.

Records filed with the state show that in House District 10, John Brown of Fairbanks has already raised more than $10,000 for his run against Ramras.

Other challengers include Sue Hull and Schaeffer Cox of Fairbanks and Ward Sattler of Stony River.

Sen. Gary Wilken, R-Fairbanks, is not running for re-election.

The primary election is Aug. 26.
