Career Connections to teach high schoolers about employment

JUNEAU - Career Connections, a program of SERRC - Alaska's Educational Resource Center, will bring high school students to Juneau this week to learn about employment opportunities.

Designed to help 11th- and 12th-grade students explore career options, Career Connections' March session is comprised of 32 students from the Annette Island, Chatham, Dillingham, Kashunamiut, Lower Yukon and Yukon Koyukuk school districts. These students will attend a five-day training seminar in Juneau that includes job shadowing for most of the week. Job shadows are determined by each student's interest.

There will be a Career Connections luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. Monday in the Capitol's Butrovich/Fahrenkamp Room. During this event, students will meet with their legislators and then report to their job shadow work stations by 1:30 p.m. For a full schedule of events, contact Linda Kadrlik at 586-6806 or lindak@serrc.org.
