JUNEAU - The Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development will award two winners of its Safety Poster and Video Contest a one-semester scholarship for up to 15 credits at any University of Alaska campus.
"We know there are many creative, talented students out there," said Nathan Menah, a training specialist with the Department's Alaska Occupational Safety and Health section. "This contest will help us bring awareness to workplace rights for young workers, youth safety in the workplace, and health and safety information for young workers."
Entries will be in two categories that illustrate the importance of safety in the workplace for young workers - original 10-inch-by-14-inch poster or 30-second video. Contest rules require that materials are generated from information on the Department's Labor Standards and Safety Web site.
Entries, which must be original and free of trademarked or copyrighted material, are due by 12 a.m. Monday, Feb. 15.
