Palin's legislative director resigns

JUNEAU - Gov. Sarah Palin's latest legislative liaison has announced her resignation, but no replacement has yet been named.

Former legislative staffer Kelly Goode has been Palin's top liaison with the Legislature since May of last year.

Goode cited family reasons for her departure, said Sharon Leighow, Palin's deputy press secretary. Goode lives in Anchorage and was based in Palin's Anchorage office.

Leighow said a new legislative liaison has not yet been named. She did not know when that might happen, but this year's legislative session beings Jan. 20.

Palin's legislative director in her first year in office was John Bitney; in her second year it was Russell Kelly.

Good had served since spring, but during the summer's special legislative sessions most liaison duties were handled by departmental staff.
