Remember when? (Buddy Tabor)

photo: thisweek

Juneau songwriter Buddy Tabor.

"Twenty-seven years ago, I was still pretty much into hardcore country and western and mainstream rock 'n' roll and the Rolling Stones. I'd never listened to Irish music or old-timey. Every time you walk in there you get different guests, different statewide and local bands playing different kinds of music. For me, it's been a real musical education in different genres of music: klezmer, Indian, old-timey, Irish, French-Canadian.

"In 27 years, I learned a lot. And for a long time, that was all I did. That was my one gig for the year. They give you a tape of your performance and I won't even listen to some of those. Some of the early ones are really bad."

- Buddy Tabor, Juneau, musician/house painter
