Thunder Mountain Theatre to audition for spring production
JUNEAU - Thunder Mountain Theatre Project will hold auditions for its spring production, "The Beauty Queen of Leenane," from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at The Canvas Community Arts Center & Gallery at 223 Seward St.
Four roles are available: one man, late teens to mid-20s; one man, 30s to 40s; one woman, 30s to 40s; and one woman, 50s to 70s.

Ryan Conarro will direct "The Beauty Queen," and Flordelino Lagundino will produce. Irish playwright Martin McDonagh wrote the play.
The play has been described as a blend of black comedy, melodrama, horror and tragedy. The story is set in the small Irish village of Leenane in the 1980s and centers on the life of Maureen Folan, a 30- or 40-something spinster who takes care of her selfish and manipulative mother, Mag.
The Folan cottage is visited by Pato Dooley, an eligible bachelor who hopes for a last-chance romance with Maureen, and Pato's younger brother, Ray.
Rehearsals for this production will begin in February, and performances will run in April.
'Lost and Found' to screen Friday at Centennial Hall
JUNEAU - The Southeast Alaska Avalanche Center will present "Lost and Found" - Teton Gravity Research's latest extreme ski and snowboard adventure film - at 7 and 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Centennial Hall.
Advance tickets are $10 at Hearthside Books. At the door, they cost $12. All proceeds benefit the Southeast Alaska Avalanche Center, a nonprofit organization based in town.
Shot almost entirely in North America, this film journeys into the vast, unexplored Tordrillo Range of Alaska.
City Museum to present lecture on fire assay lab
JUNEAU - The Juneau-Douglas City Museum will present the second installment in its "Coffee & Collections Series" from 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10.
Addison Field, the museum's curator of collections and exhibits, will talk about the U.S. Bureau of Mines' fire assay lab that operated on Mayflower Island from the early 1950s until 1996.
The presentation is inspired by recent acquisitions from the Bureau of Land Management and the opening of the fire assay lab diorama at the museum.

Sons of Norway to hold holiday bazaar at Juneau Yacht Club
JUNEAU - The Sons of Norway will hold its holiday bazaar from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Juneau Yacht Club, off Egan Drive in Aurora Harbor.
The bakery will serve Scandinavian baked goods, sandwiches, soup, fruit cups, waffles with strawberries and whipping cream, and hot beverages.
The bazaar will include a variety of homemade arts and crafts. Dale Wygant will play songs on his accordion, and door prizes will be given out every half hour.
