Lindsay Lohan's a rebellious teen who's constantly in trouble in this critical and commercial flop that's a fictionalized narrative, not a documentary of the actress' real-life crises. "The Wind That Shakes the Barley"
It's brother against brother in this drama starring Cillian Murphy as a young medical student caught up in Irish rebels' fight for freedom from British oppression in the early 20th century. Abandoning his studies, Murphy's character joins his brother in the battle that leads to a treaty, the siblings later finding themselves on opposite sides of the Irish civil war that followed. The film by British director Ken Loach won the top prize at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival. DVD, $19.95.
"Stranger Than Paradice," "Night on Earth"
Jim Jarmusch's acclaimed 1984 film "Stranger Than Paradise" gets fresh DVD treatment in a two-disc set, while his 1991 tale "Night on Earth" makes its DVD debut in a single-disc release. "Stranger Than Paradise" follows the meandering relationship and road-trip ramble of two buddies (John Lurie and Richard Edson) and a visiting cousin (Eszter Balint). DVD extras include Jarmusch's 1980 feature debut, "Permanent Vacation," along with behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with the cast and crew.
