Caught in the Web

'Googlify' your phone

Google's mobile offerings have grown significantly in the past year in the form of both Java-based clients and mobile versions of pages, and weblog Google Blogoscoped describes how to use and access the gamut of Google from your cell phone.

Most of the apps or mobile sites are Google-built (like Gmail Mobile and Google Maps Mobile), with the exception of a couple of apps from Shozu that let you post to your Blogger account and upload pics to your Picasa Web Album. If you're a Google nut on your desktop, why not take advantage of the same apps on the go?

Read "Putting Google On Your Phone" at http://blogoscoped.com/archive/2007-07-10-n81.html.

NameMyVote.com

If you're looking for just a little something to whet your political appetite without getting bogged down in, you know, actual issues, try NameMyVote.com. The totally superficial _ and yet surprisingly addictive _ site asks you to choose whether people vote Democrat or Republican based only on their snapshot. Once you click, you'll find out the answer, along with what other people guessed. For a real challenge, you can try to guess which presidential candidate the person supports, out of the expansive field. Join the site (for free) to keep score, and to put your own pic on the site.
