JUMP film festival set for Thursday, Friday, Saturday
JUNEAU - Tickets for the Juneau Underground Motion Picture Society's latest film festival are available at the Ruby Room, behind Heritage Coffee in the Emporium Mall, or at the Juneau Arts & Humanities Council, 206 N. Franklin St.
Admission is free.
Showtime is 7 p.m. Thursday, July 26; 7 and 9 p.m. Friday, July 27; and 7 and 9 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at the Back Room at the Silverbow.

'24 Hour Miracle' looking for cast, crew and volunteers
JUNEAU - Organizers of "24 Hour Miracle," the second annual event produced by the Juneau-Douglas Little Theatre, are looking for directors, actors, technicians and volunteers to run the box office and concessions.
Rehearsals start at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at The Canvas, in the basement of the REACH building at Seward and Third streets. The show starts at 8 p.m.

City museum looking for solo artists for fall '08, winter '09
JUNEAU - The Juneau-Douglas City Museum is accepting applications for solo artist exhibitions for the fall 2008-winter 2009 season.
Applications are due Aug. 15. All media forms will be considered.

Downtown library hosts proposal writing workshop Aug. 1
JUNEAU - Scott Ullman, of the Foundation Center in San Francisco, will be teaching a workshop on Proposal Writing and Proposal Budgeting Basics, from 2:30-5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, at the downtown branch of the Juneau Public Libraries.

Hudson, Mehner win arts awards from Native foundation
ANCHORAGE - Tlingit artists Clarissa Hudson and Da-ka-xeen Mehner were two of six Native artists to win Cultural Arts Project Support awards this year from the Alaska Native Arts Foundation's CAPS initiative.
The winners were:
Clarissa Hudson, Tlingit, $1,000, professional photo documentation of artists' first 25 ceremonial robes that were created from 1983 to 1993.
Da-ka-xeen Mehner, Tlingit, $4,000, to purchase materials to help offset the cost of producing artwork for two solo shows this year.
Andrew Abyo, Aleut-Alutiiq, $2,000, to purchase shop equipment: a large outdoor shed, dust collector, shop vacuum, work bench, specialty carving tools and materials to continue a mentorship with Perry Eaton.
Percy Avugiak, Yup'ik-Inupiaq, $2,000, to purchase master carving tools to make humor-teasing masks used for dancing.
Phyllis Ann Fast, Koyukon Athabascan, $5,000, to offset framing costs for pieces in exhibit "Palimpsest of Anchorage: Recycling Anchorage's History," a mixed-media exhibit depicting the artist's views of Anchorage from 1946 to present.
Spring Uula Pungowiyi, Inupiaq-Siberian Yup'ik, $2,200, to purchase a good easel, paint and canvases to create a new body of work.
