Sound & Fury in brief

Concert in the Park lineup

JUNEAU - The Juneau Pride Chorus, the Tlingit Gospel Choir and Stroller White Pipes, Drums & Highland Dancers will play this week's free, open-air Concert in the Park 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at the downtown Marine Park.

In case of rain, the concert will be moved across the street to the Assembly Chambers.

All concerts are presented by the Juneau Arts & Humanities Council and Holland America Line.

This Saturday at 7 p.m., Carl Reese and Kray van Kirk will play the first Concert on Campus at the University of Alaska Southeast's Noyes Pavilion.

Rave party set for Marlintini's

JUNEAU - DJs Dan-O-Mite, Flipside and Can Can will play the Rave Party from 10 p.m. until closing Friday at Marlintini's Lounge.

The best ravers win prizes, and the first 100 to show up will receive free stuff that glows.

The Bastards play at the bar, beginning at 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

JAHC needs instruments

JUNEAU - The Juneau Arts & Humanities Council is looking for fiddles, guitars, banjos, mandolins or basses for children to use during the Bearfoot Bluegrass Camp in July.

The members of the award-winning band have taught thousands of children across the United States, Canada and Ireland and will stop here July 9-12 to teach 5- to-17-year-olds.

If you have an instrument to spare, call 586-ARTS, visit www.jahc.org or stop by the office at 206 N. Franklin St.

PP to turn 50 with style

DOUGLAS - PP's Douglas Inn will celebrate the 50th birthday of owner Pat Peterson with a blowout luau, starting at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Dinner begins at 5 p.m., and the party will last all night.

The evening will include live music and a special interactive guest appearance by Rosie.

Woodford to perform Friday

JUNEAU - Juneau songwriter Riley Woodford, guitarist and singer for the Bobb Family Band, will perform solo from 9 p.m. to midnight at the Alaskan Bar and Hotel.

There is no cover.

Woodford will play songs from his CD, "Applehood and Mother Pie," and cover material by Bob Dylan, Neil Young, the Grateful Dead and others.

DJ AstronoMAR is scheduled to perform Saturday night at the Alaskan.
