The public is invited to attend the event for station tours, light refreshments, viewing of the charter member plaque and live music with the band BRAVEmonkey between 4:30 and 7 p.m. at the K3 studios at 360 Egan Drive.

For those who cannot attend the event, KRNN 102.7 will broadcast the music and party live between 5 and 7 p.m.

Fire on McGinnis to return Jan. 12 after hiatus

After a six-month hiatus, Fire on McGinnis, Alaska's only Celtic rock band, will be returning to the stage Saturday, Jan. 12, at The Island Pub in Douglas.

The band - composed of highland bagpipes, fiddle, guitar, bass, drums and vocals - will perform from 9 p.m. to midnight.

Fire on McGinnis took most of last summer off from performing to work on an upcoming CD and put together a number of new songs as well as enhance some of its older tunes.

The band also will perform two sets for Stroller White Pipes and Drums during "Burns' Night" on Saturday, Jan. 19, at Centennial Hall. The event begins at 9 p.m.
