Northern Lights Junior Theatre seeks actors for 'Lockers'
The Northern Lights Junior Theatre and Alaska USA Federal Credit Union will hold rehearsals for the one-act play "Lockers," directed by Cinnamon Simpson.
Students in grades four and up are welcome to participate. No auditions are required. The organizers said they would like to get the word out to as many potential student actors as possible.
Play orientation will be held Jan. 18 through 20. Appointments are required.

Comedy show set for Jan. 11 and 12 at Marlintini's
Marlintini's Lounge will host two of Alaska's hottest stand-up comedians on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 11 and 12.
Fairbanks radio show hosts Jerry Evans and Glenner will perform at the Mendenhall Valley bar beginning at 9 p.m. with host Dan Fink. Tickets cost $12 in advance or $15 at the door.
Evans has been seen on CBS's "Young & The Restless" and has opened for comedians such as Chris Titus, Kevin James and Louis CK, among others.
Glenner has been featured on Smithsonian TV's "Wild and Wacky Adventures" and has opened for Huey Lewis and Bill Bellamy, among others.
Travelodge-Juneau Airport Hotel, Grey Goose Vodka and Bacardi are sponsors of the event.
Deadline approaching for JUMP Society film festival
The Juneau Underground Motion Picture Society is seeking submissions for the rapidly approaching JUMP Society Winter Film Festival. The deadline for this season's festival is Monday, Jan. 14.
Film submissions should be 10 minutes long or less. The JUMP Society only accepts films from Juneau artists or films with a strong Juneau connection. For more information, submission guidelines and forms, visit jumpsociety.com.
The festival will be screened Jan. 24, 25 and 26 at the Back Room at the Silverbow Inn. Tickets will be available beginning Jan. 15.
Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament to begin Jan. 17
Rendezvous, Jagermeister and the Alaskan Brewing Co. will begin hosting weekly Rock, Paper, Scissors tournaments on Thursday, Jan. 17.
The competitions will be held at 9 p.m. every Thursday at Rendezvous through March 13.
A championship event is scheduled for Saturday, March 15, with two Alaska Airline tickets as the prize for Juneau's ultimate master of the popular hand signals game.
Plays Out-Loud: Readers Theatre group begins
Greg Chaney brings his play "Sticky Side of Life" to read Wednesday, Jan. 16, at the inaugural Plays Out-Loud: Readers Theatre meeting at Valentine's Coffee House.
The group, sponsored by the Juneau Arts & Humanities Council and Perseverance Theatre, meets the third Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. The meetings allow ordinary people to become part of a play without committing to a full-blown production. They also allow playwrights to get feedback on work in progress.
