THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
DURHAM, N.C. - Freshman basketball player Carlos Boozer will undergo surgery to repair a broken fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot, Duke University men's basketball team trainer Dave Engelhardt said Monday.
Boozer, from Juneau, will have a screw placed in his foot and will require a rehabilitation period of eight- to 12 weeks before returning to the court.
Boozer suffered the injury late last week playing a pickup game in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Duke opens practice for the 1999-2000 season on Oct. 16.
